Day 1

Un-eventful taxi run down the M40 with John from Kings Sutton Cars. We left at 8:45 and were in Terminl 1 at 10:05. Checked in straight away and got airside to get through security asap. The man on the security check liked my camper van T shirt.

Wandered round duty free, bought some water, had a coffee and bought some sandwiches. Then we waited for the gate and trecked the usual Heathrow 3 miles to gate 50. Sat there for half an hour and then got on the plane. All aboard and ready by 1:05 which of course meant we had missed our slot and then spent an hour sitting on the ground until they found another one.

Sat next to a man who was on the phone to The Chief Whip's office, so gues he either an MP or a lobbyist. He had been bumped down from first class because the flight was overbooked, wanted more than his share of space and elbowed me in the ribs everytime I tried to use my armrest. Thought about pretending to go to sleep and putting my head on his shoulder just to wind him up.

Landed in Reykjavik about 3:45 Icelandic time which was only 45 minutes late, so they must have taken a shortcut. The airport is too smal, or their were too many people. Found our bags (hooray!), got through customs and found the minibus driver, and waited for everyone else to turn up. Only us and one other on the bus in the end. In the hotel by 5:30, there are two ISAK Land Rovers in the car park. Off out now to find some food and free wifi as the hotel charge for it.

So this may appear on the blog tonight or it may have to wait for free wifi.

Sat n a restaurant using their wifi and waiting for our food, Sharon's having a Baywatch pizza and I am having a Bluemoon Burger, you can tell what sort of restaraunt it is from that. the reggae in the background is great and we can see the sea.

The Land Rover is already in the hotel car park waiting for us. It is massive.
